About Sandra and Kathy

We’re just two girls with a keen interest in food – cooking, shopping, learning and devouring. During one balmy evening in Provence, after too much food and too much wine, we decided to start a blog to not only keep in touch with each other – as Sandra is based in California and Kathy in Spain, but to be able to remember and share travel stories, recipes, photos and ideas that happen along the way.

  1. Welcome to the blogosphere! I look forward to reading your posts! You guys should come to China!

  2. Love the idea behind your blog I have a very good friend in Italy and we’ve talked about producing a global cookbook. Perhaps a blog would be more realistic and immediate.

    • Thanks so much for checking out our blog! I am thoroughly enjoying reading your blog as well, super recipes and posts – reminds me of every time my mother sat my sisters and myself down at the kitchen table to insistently teach us how to properly wrap dumplings. We still haven’t nailed it quite yet as she so easily spots the ones that have burst open. The idea of a global blog is great… keep us in mind if you ever need a Spain correspondent!

  3. What a great idea – and what a lovely blog!

    • Thank you… it is still quite new for both Kathy and me. We are learning every day.

Your recipes look wonderful. These is such a peaceful feeling about your site that I love.

That is nice of you to say Sandra. Hahaha Peaceful appearance but a little strange below the surface πŸ˜‰

  6. What a very cool blog and a wonderful story. I am hoping to do a story and possible book in Provence this spring and I always enjoy meeting writers who are drawn together by great food. May I also say you have made a great choice on blog theme as well πŸ™‚

    Cheers,
    Michael

    • Thank you for reading… We loved our stay in Goult and all lovely surrounding villages. Good luck with your book!!!

  7. Thanx for visiting Foods For a Happy Body!! I get really excited when I come across people with a like mindset toward nutrition! I think you’ve already gotten the impression that I tend to go after the science part of the subject matter (My personal feeling is that our friends need to be informed!) but it’s nice to know that you can appreciate that fact and rejoice in giving out great new ideas about the thing we all love the most (FOOD!!) My site is primarily natuopathic, organic, and orthomolecular in it’s entirety and I always try to throw out a delicious idea while at the same time trying to offer the most information regarding the health benefits that I possibly can! I look forward to hearing from you two again in the near future! And if you ever get the chance to stop by in Kansas, I’d LOVE to sit down for a nice meal! BTW, Sandra & Kathy’s Corners are now on my home page!! If that’s an issue for you, just say the word and I’ll take it off..

Peas and Homony.. Life and Love!!

    • Thank you for the invitation and having us on your home page!!!! If we ever make it out to Kansas, we’ll let you know. Both Kathy and I are strong proponents of eating healthy and well. We know and understand what it means to our bodies.

  11. Okay, this is probably the coolest idea ever as a way to stay in touch. Genius, really! I love the sentiment of this blog–how special πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! It’s has definitely kept Kathy and I in close contact. I forget she is in a different part of the world.

You’re blog is beautifully put together and your pictures are gorgeous! It doesn’t appear you are missing out on any of those nasty processed foods and you look fabulous since you put your past behind you. πŸ™‚

Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see more recipes…

      • Thank you so much Sandra for the super sweet words! This is the place that I am supposed to lavish *you* with compliments though–how kind you are πŸ™‚ Now I want to make friends with someone on the other side of the world and start a blog with her…

Great stuff here. The gluten free in particular as I have the intolerance. Cheers

  13. What a lovely concept for a blog! Really sweet. And such a nice blog too!

  14. It’s as if I just received a gift in discovering your blog! Yum!

  15. This is the best idea for a blog! Thanks for visiting mine and I look forward to keeping up with yours!

    • Thank you! I’m still laughing from your “Goodbye 2011” post. My husband gave me the Modernist Cuisine book set for Xmas – which is a gorgeous set of books – but every single recipe calls for sous vide!

      • Oh, man! That is a terrific gift!!

I heard that Amazon had to make the publisher change the stand it comes with because it exceeded their shipping weight maximum! Did yours come with the lucite stand?

(but the sous vide thing is really ridiculous)

      • How funny – yeah, it is a tremendously heavy set of books. Mine did come with the lucite stand, but only had to travel a little ways from Amazon Germany πŸ™‚

  16. Thanks for dropping by our blog, Kathy. Your blog is beautifully photographed and full of great new recipe ideas. I really dig the concept of your cross-world blog. Out of curiosity, where in Cali is Sandra? We’re in Northern Cali, Santa Clara to be specific.

    I’m now following your blog!

    • Thank you! Awesome recipes on yours as well – I can’t wait to try the Vietnamese Grilled Pork. I have been craving Asian food like mad and there are absolutely no good places on this Spanish island. Sandra is in LA, but small world that you’re in Santa Clara. I used to live in North San Jose – the best banh mi I’ve ever had was at a hole in the wall place next to the Great Mall. Ack, making myself salivate now.

    • Hey there Huy-zer. Yes, we’re not far from each other. Will be checking out your blog in a bit. Yep Asian food is not hard to get when I live footsteps away from great Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai restaurants!

Just had dinner at Newport Seafood last night. Food is ALWAYS good there, and only had to wait an hour – crazy that people actually do wait…

  17. I love your site and your photos are like food porn! Great Job!
    Aron
